Hi all! I had good flight and am now safely in Germany! I have been having a really crazy time. I hardly slept on the flight and I landed mid day and started my day again. I took a walk with my host father to get some breads for tea after we got home. After tea my host brother(Milo) and I walked around town and met up with some of his friends. I went on a walk with some of them while Milo and his parents set up for a going away/leaving party that night. We ended up partying until like 3 in the morning talking, dancing, playing games. When I got back home I have to pack for the language camp I was going to the next day.
Then I got up early for mass 😐. I went to mass with one of the other exchange students and then we explored the church a bit before they kicked us out for the next service. It was this place called the Bamberg Dom it was so beautiful and they had a beautiful organ. We came back home and had breakfast with everyone left from the party and my host bother and parents. Then we walked one of Milo’s friends to the Bahnhof (train station). After that we said our good byes to Milo who is leaving for Taiwan while I’m at camp. There is this really cool castle on the way to the camp that my host father took me and two other exchange students to. It was so amazing and beautiful and had a wonderful exhibit inside. Then we got to camp and had introductions. We went to bed at like 11 and I was just feeling so awful and I ended up throwing up for a while.
Monday was rules for both the camp and for rotary in general info on trips, visas, insurance, anything else you can think of. I was still not feeling the best but by the end of the day I was feeling much better. We then went to a German car museum which was cool and we walked there as well so we were able to explore the city a bit. When we got back we all traded pins.
Today we started German lessons which were all day. It was stuff I already knew but it was really good to practice speaking. We then went on a German hike which was interesting we trekked through some bush and I now have a really bad rash. And we went to a German McDonalds which was surprisingly good America doesn’t even hold a candle to it.
Now we are back at the place we are staying but I don’t know if I can do this often while I’m here because they have foul internet and I don’t have a SIM card yet, we also don’t have any free time. They also take our phones at night… but it’s only two weeks so I’ll be able to after that really regularly.
