School

Hi all! Sorry I haven’t written in a while πŸ˜” Last week was the start of school! Which is super exciting! School here is very different Then in the US. Every day ends a different time which is interesting for me. People also don’t really eat at school. Only on our super long day, which is Monday, classes go to five. So far the classes have been fine, they are hard and there is a LOT of homework, but I am trying my best. They said they won’t really give me grades but at the end of the year write a few sentences about my progress that year to send to my school back home. I also really want to learn German so I’ve been trying to keep up with all the assignments. I have two girls who are responsible for me and showing me around the school. They are really nice, and I think I am friends with them and their friend group. Another thing that I thought was surprising was that they do a lot of language. They obviously have German, then English, then a French class but they also have two periods they decided, Spanish or Latin and an extra period of English or Greek. Which is so crazy, that’s a lot of languages.

On the weekend I ended up hanging out with some of the other exchange students from the district that live nearby. They all came to my town and we ended up just hanging out for the day. It was very nice 😊 And then on Sunday, my host father and I ended up going on a very nice hike. That’s definitely some thing I’ve noticed about this region, Jesus is everywhere, there’s lots of little statues of him, and him and Marry are also also included in a lot of the architecture. It’s also very interesting, because even at a public school, they have a crucifix in every room. The main political party in this region is also the Christian Democratic Union of Germany. School also has a religion class where they break everybody into different classes based on your religion.

The weather today was nice but the past week it was so cloudy, rainy, and windy. It’s surprising to me because when I first arrived the two~three weeks after were SO HOT and it’s crazy how fast the weather changed.

Later this week(Friday) we are doing a field trip so I’m also very excited about that! I’m also trying to figure out how I can go to Oktober Fest, there is a lot of paperwork and my host family will be out of the country so I’ll be staying with my counselor and her family. Which is funny because they are on vacation right now. It’s just all coordination at this point, but I really hope I will be able to go!

Also, my blackout is officially over!!!!!!

Thank you guys for reading! I’ll write again soon ❤️😊
